Drama Project to raise awareness of Crime and Anti-social behaviour.

Thames Valley Police in Partnership with SaferMK invites secondary schools within the Milton Keynes area to take part in a Drama based project which will see their students write, direct and perform a 10 minute play surrounding aspects of one of the following:

Anti-Social Behaviour

Gangs

Hate Crime

Drugs / Alcohol

The overall theme of the project is to highlight consequences of behaviours, ultimately to provoke discussion and further ongoing activities.

The project is joint funded by Thames Valley Police and SaferMK and is free for schools to participate in. Lost Youth III “Consequences” drama project will commence in the summer term, (June) and culminate with a performance at Stantonbury Theatre on the evening of Wednesday 23rd November 2016.

The project is aimed at year 9/10 students working in conjunction with the school’s drama department. Between 8 to10 students will be involved in the creative process and performance. Each school will be required to showcase the play in front of their school through assemblies or off curriculum days.

Each play will be marked by a panel of independent judges using a set marking scheme. The students from the top three performances will receive £20, £15 and £10 “itunes” vouchers respectively.

As part of the project each school will be offered 6 hours contact time spread over 3 separate visits with a drama practitioner who will offer guidance with script writing, direction and performance. Participating pupils will benefit from first-hand knowledge surrounding the creative process.

We are now inviting schools in Milton Keynes to register their interest in taking part. The maximum number of schools able to participate is 10. If you would like your school to take part in this project please complete and return this form as soon as possible and by no later than Friday 11th March 2016.

You will be contacted shortly after the registration closing date confirming your place and invited to attend an initial meeting that will be held before the end of term.
